My musical backgroundI’m a very musical person, coming from a musical family. I studied to play the piano for 10 years, along with music theory and history, until my passion for dance took over.As a dancer, I regard my body as another instrument in the song. The music drives me, I love to hit the interesting details and rhythms in the music. I’m almost unable to have a good dance to a bad song, and hearing a nice new tune makes my day. I’ve been collecting and categorizing my music for decades.
Ever since childhood, I have a strong desire to share my favourite songs with others.

My DJ story

My mission as a DJHave you ever heard of flow state? The psychological phenomenon when time just freezes, you are so immersed in the moment. Well, I absolutely love that feeling. And the place I experience this the most is the dance floor. So my goal is to take my audience on a journey and hopefully help them experience flow state as well.

West Coast Swing

My favourite wcs nights were the late nights 10 years ago when I started. All the music was calming, meditative, experimental and inspiring, with a lot of electronic chill songs. I feel nowadays we’ve lost this vibe a little, we keep the energy up for longer, and even later in the night we play a lot of fast acoustic songs… So with my late night sets, that is the vibe I’d like to bring back. In my early evening sets I of course play more energetic music but I still try to sneak in a few songs with a meditative vibe.I’m also a big advocate of playing more songs that people don’t know, to expand their perspectives and get them out of old patterns. So in my sets I try to avoid those songs which are overplayed in my opinion, and instead focus on newer current hits, forgotten wcs classics, retro songs everyone knows but has never danced to, interesting covers of well-known songs, and if the situation allows, a few of my own discoveries. This way, I hope to achieve a balance where everyone finds familiar stuff as well as new inspirations.

At this point, I'm playing regularly at local parties in London. Plus I've played at 2 international festivals so far: Midland Swing Open, and the new Zouk and WCS cross-over festival, FlowState, where I got to play in some of the most prestigious spots: the opening party and the pre-finals slot for WCS, the only cross-over party straight after the pro show, and the closing set in the Zouk room. Here are some of my favourite sets as reference:Recent beginner-friendly local partyPre-finals set at FlowStateZouk & WCS cross-over party at FlowStateSunday night at MSO

Brazilian Zouk

Similarly to west coast swing, my favourite part of the parties is the early morning hours. I like meditative songs with interesting rhythms and layers. A lean towards electronic and world music but also play other styles as well. My music has been described as trippy.I draw some influence from west coast, and also ecstatic dance. I play in a mixture of languages from English, Portugese, Spanish, French, etc.I pay a lot of attention to create seamless waves of energy and vibe, to take the dancers on a journey.I'm DJing regularly at local parties in London, and played at one international festival so far: the new WCS and Zouk cross-over event, FlowState, where I got to play in some of the most prestigious spots: the opening party and the pre-finals slot for WCS, the only cross-over party straight after the pro show, and the closing set in the Zouk room.

Ecstatic Dance

Perhaps this is where I can express myself to the fullest, given the lack of restrictions in terms of tempo and rhythm.I also appreciate the audience taking part of the full experience, and the lack of chatter. These conditions make it so much easier for the dancers to enter flow state.I create an ecstatic wave starting from slow meditative tunes gradually building up to high energy songs, and then bringing it back down again. My music collection mainly consists of electronic trance, chillout, and tribal world music. But I also like to sprinkle in some pop and rock songs, and some retro tunes.
